A stippled humpback whale and bottlenose dolphin originally created as part of my Final Major Project at University, which aimed to raise awareness of the threat posed by plastic in our oceans and its impact on marine life. They are a part of a collection of seven illustrations, each featuring an animal highlighted in research as being among the most affected by the issue. These illustrations have gained recognition beyond the original project, with some selling as prints, making them an important part of my portfolio.
Fave fact about humpback whales: They compose intricate songs that can last up to 30 minutes! - It is only the males that sing and it is thought they do it to attract females.
Fave fact about bottlenose dolphins: They can turn off one side of their brain! When sleeping, they keep one eye open and sleep with one side of their brain at a time. It allows them to look out for their group and keeps them alert to predators.
