The sea turtle was the one that started it all and lead me onto every illustration I’ve done ever since. It means so much, that I see it as my unofficial mascot!
Originally created as part of my Final Major Project at University, which aimed to raise awareness of the threat posed by plastic in our oceans and its impact on marine life. It is a part of a collection of seven illustrations, each featuring an animal highlighted in research as being among the most affected by the issue. These illustrations have gained recognition beyond the original project, with some selling as prints, making them a important part of my portfolio.
Fave fact about sea turtles: They can’t actually breathe underwater but can hold their breath for a really long time! (between 4 to 7 hours when resting) - their heart rate slows to conserve oxygen. How cool is that?!
